JAKARTA - Ten designers from across Indonesia battled it out at the Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award (ANGFDA) is a competition which aims to find the bright young talents in fashion, especially fashion design.

 

Times flies quickly as ANGFDA or also commonly called the New Generation Bazaar is already reaching its third instalment. The competition initiated by Harper's Bazaar magazine in the Southeast Asia area is back looking for fresh fashion designers to add to the booming fashion industry globally.

 

For the third ANGFDA in 2016, the selected participants have been through the selection phase by world-renowned fashion practitioners from Indonesia, such as Ria Lirungan (editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar Indonesia), Michael Pondaag (Fashion Director of Harper's Bazaar Indonesia), Didi Budiardjo (Fashion Designer), and Biyan Wanaatmadja (Fashion Designer). Two winners were selected as Harper's Bazaar Indonesia Asia Newgen's Award and will be competing regionally to compete in the arena of Harper's Bazaar Newgen Award Asia face the winners from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

 

Wilsen Willim and William Utama were crowned winners at the event taking place during the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week 2016 at the heart of Jakarta, attended by more than a hundred of the fashion elite. Both Raffles designers will represent Indonesia for the final that will take place in Malaysia.

Wilsen was overjoyed, “It is totally unexpected, I am glad to see that the hard work paid off. I am so glad that I was given the space to work in Raffles Jakarta (Citywalk Sudirman). It is just amazing that I won".
